Thank you for registering for GemiKnights! We’re excited to run this event for the first time. We hope to keep this event fun, interactive, and useful for anyone who participates.
📝 Registration and Check-In
Arrive on Saturday morning in BA1 107. Please make sure to bring a valid UCF ID when you arrive so we can check you into the event! Doors open at 9:00 AM, and the event will officially start with opening ceremonies at 9:45 AM sharp.
At check-in, you’ll be given a wristband. Please keep it on for the entire event, as it will be required to receive food. If you lose your wristband at any point, please notify an organizer immediately.
From 9:00 to 9:45 AM is the best time to form teams and get to know other participants. At 9:30 AM, the doors for opening ceremonies will open and we’ll begin gathering everyone together for a warm welcome and important information for the day. At 10:00 AM, the hacking period officially begins for any participants working on a project!
🥳 The Main Event
Workspaces will be provided in BA1 239 & 107 classrooms.
The hacking period will last from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
🔑 Important Rules:
- Teams are limited to a maximum of four participants.
- Teams must present to the judges to be eligible for prizes.
- A functional application is not required for prizes. Focus on creativity, design, and ambition
- All participants are required to follow the MLH Code of Conduct. Harassment, discrimination, or disruptive behavior will not be tolerated. Organizers reserve the right to remove individuals who violate these policies.
- All submissions must be created and submitted during the hacking time, which is 10:00 am to 10:00 pm. (Any changes to your project, even like creating your repository, not in this time frame will effectively count you as disqualified from receiving any prizes)
- Even if your project isn't finished, your Devpost must be created by 9:00 PM to be eligible for judging and prizes. Edits can still be made until 10:30, but a placeholder submission is required by that time (the placeholder submission does not need anything in it, just register your team, project name, etc).
- Please clean up after yourself and be respectful of the space and other participants. This includes not leaving trash behind and keeping noise levels appropriate in work areas.
- Mentors and volunteers will be around all day — don’t hesitate to ask for help if you’re stuck or need guidance! Look for folks with mentor/volunteer badges or nametags.
- Keep your wristband on at all times - Lost wristbands may only be replaced once at the discretion of the organizing team. Replacement requests must be made at the help desk and will require ID verification.
- Finally, you do not need to join a team or submit a project! If you just want to hang out, relax, work on a personal project or participate in events, you're welcome to do so. Everyone, hackers, non-hackers, are encouraged to join mini-events and activities throughout the day.
